Tiller

A skilled Tiler is required to carry out high‑quality wall and floor tiling across residential and commercial projects. Responsibilities include interpreting plans, measuring and marking work areas, and preparing surfaces by removing old materials and repairing imperfections. The role involves applying adhesives, cutting and shaping tiles to fit around fixtures, ensuring accurate alignment, and completing work with professional grouting and finishing. Candidates must be able to apply waterproofing and may work with terrazzo, granolithic, or mosaic designs. Strong attention to detail and reliability are essential.

Task & responsibilities

• Reviewing project plans to measure, mark out, and organise work areas.
• Preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing existing tiles, grout, and adhesive; repairing holes and cracks; and thoroughly cleaning the area.
• Applying tile adhesive to prepared surfaces and positioning tiles accurately.
• Cutting and shaping tiles using specialised tools to fit edges, corners, and spaces around fixtures and pipes.
• Aligning and spacing tiles to ensure a precise and consistent finish.
• Grouting installed tiles, followed by cleaning and removing excess grout.
• Applying waterproofing systems where required.
• Installing specialised flooring such as granolithic, terrazzo, cement-based, or similar materials.
• Creating mosaic designs by arranging coloured tiles into decorative patterns.

Qualification & experience

• Tiling trade qualification — A Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling is preferred.
• Proven tiling experience — Demonstrated experience in residential and/or commercial tiling projects.
• Surface preparation skills — Ability to prepare, repair, and level surfaces before installation.
• Tile cutting and installation — Competence in cutting, shaping, and fitting tiles around fixtures and edges.
• Plan interpretation — Ability to read drawings, measurements, and layout plans accurately.
• White Card — Current construction induction card required for site work.
• Reliable transport — Must have dependable transport to travel between job sites.
• Attention to detail — Strong focus on quality, alignment, and finishing.
• Teamwork and independence — Able to work autonomously or collaboratively as needed.
