Painting Trades Worker

Job Duties:

1. Apply paints, stain, varnish, enamel and other finishes to surfaces using spray guns, brushes or rollers.
2. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood or metal for finish coats.
3. Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements.
4. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
5. Fill cracks, holes and joints with putty, plaster or other fillers.
6. Mix and match colours of paint, stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colours and consistencies.
7. Clean surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper.
8. Polish final coats to specified finishes.
9. Cleaning tools, equipments and work areas.
10. Erect Scaffolding and Laddering.

Qualification and Experience:

1. At least Certificate III in painting and Decorating
2. Minimum 3 years of experience as a painting trades worker.
