$80,000 - $95,000 Annual

The role requires IRATA-certified rope access skills combined with qualified painting trade expertise. The incumbent is required to carry out work safely and to a high standard across a range of project types, including new construction, maintenance, and remediation works, at various client sites across NSW and other states as required.

Task & responsibilities

Main tasks include:

• Perform industrial and commercial painting works at height using rope access (abseiling) techniques, in compliance with IRATA standards and site-specific safety requirements.

• Carry out surface preparation including pressure washing, abrasive blasting, grinding, and sanding prior to paint application.

• Apply protective coatings, anti-corrosion treatments, and decorative finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.

• Inspect surfaces to identify defects, deterioration, or areas requiring remediation prior to commencing work.

• Set up, inspect, and maintain all rope access equipment including harnesses, ropes, anchors, and descenders in accordance with IRATA and manufacturer specifications.

• Conduct pre-work safety checks, participate in toolbox talks, and complete job safety analyses (JSAs) and safe work method statements (SWMS) as required.

• Work in compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW), the WHS Regulation 2017, and all applicable site rules and client requirements.

• Coordinate with site supervisors and project managers to ensure works are completed on time, within scope, and to the required quality standard.

• Maintain accurate records of materials used, hours worked, and any incidents or near-misses.

• Assist with the training and mentoring of less experienced team members as directed.

• Carry out any other duties consistent with the role as directed by the employer.


Qualification & experience

Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent recognised trade qualification) – required.

At least 1 year of relevant full time work experience

IRATA Level 1, 2, or 3 rope access certification – required.

White Card (General Construction Induction) – required.

Current Working at Heights certification – required.

Current First Aid certificate – desirable.

Height Safety and Rescue competencies – desirable.

Experience with industrial protective coatings and application systems – highly desirable.
