As a Wood Machinist, you will be responsible for operating woodworking machinery and producing precision components for a wide range of construction and joinery projects. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive and hands on environment where quality workmanship is valued.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Study drawings, work orders and production specifications to determine job requirements and machining processes.
  • Set up and operate woodworking machines including saws, routers, planers, moulders, drills, sanders and edge banders.
  • Select and prepare timber and other materials according to production requirements.
  • Measure, cut, shape and machine timber components to precise specifications.
  • Operate both manual and computer-controlled woodworking machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Assemble machined timber components and prepare products for installation or finishing.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain machinery, tools and equipment and report faults or repair requirements.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Estimate material requirements and minimise material wastage during production.

Skill required:

  • Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery (e.g. CNC, panel saws, edge banders, profile sanders)
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in the relavent areas.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Furniture making, Wood Machining, Joinery or 3 years of work experience in lieu of qualification. 
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and plans accurately
  • Demonstrated experience operating woodworking machinery and power tools.
  • High attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team

The job will be full time, with hours to be worked between 9 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday
