Formwork Carpenter

This position involves carrying out formwork installation and removal, working from construction plans, and ensuring all tasks are completed according to project requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards across multiple job sites.

Work sites may change depending on project needs, and the position may require travel between different construction locations as directed by the employer.

Task & responsibilities

The role will include a wide range of formwork carpentry tasks, including but not limited to:

• Constructing, erecting, and stripping formwork for concrete elements such as footings, walls, beams, columns, and slabs 
• Reviewing and interpreting drawings, plans, and technical documents 
• Positioning, levelling, and securing formwork in line with engineering specifications 
• Cutting and preparing materials including timber, plywood, and other formwork components 
• Checking the strength and stability of formwork prior to concrete placement 
• Accurately measuring and marking materials for fabrication and assembly 
• Setting up temporary supports, bracing, and safety structures when necessary 
• Using hand and power tools safely and effectively on site 
• Performing maintenance, cleaning, and storage of tools and formwork equipment 
• Following workplace health and safety guidelines, construction standards, and company procedures 

Qualification & experience

• At least 1 year of experience in formwork carpentry or a related field 
• Relevant trade qualification such as Certificate III in Carpentry (advantageous but not required) 
• Understanding of different formwork systems including timber and steel 
• Ability to read and apply construction drawings and plans 
• Skilled in operating construction tools and equipment 
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
