Painter (Painting Trades Worker)

Task & responsibilities

• Carry out interior and exterior painting works for residential and commercial projects.
• Set up scaffolding and ladders safely before starting work.
• Use drop sheets and coverings to protect nearby areas from paint splashes.
• Prepare walls and surfaces by removing old paint or wallpaper.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching and applying primers.
• Fill holes and cracks, repair small surface damage and smooth surfaces before painting.
• Mix paints and colours to achieve the required finish.
• Apply paint, varnish and stains using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Hang wallpaper and make sure patterns and edges are neat and properly aligned.
• Clean tools, equipment and work areas after completing tasks.
• Check completed work to ensure good quality and presentation.
• Protecting furniture, floors and fixtures using drop sheets and masking techniques.
• Protect surrounding areas and maintain clean and safe work sites.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and company standards at all times.
• Assist with small window repairs and replace glass in frames when required.

Qualification & experience

-Minimum 1–2 years of relevant work experience as a painter.

-Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.

-Good knowledge of painting techniques, materials and safety procedures.

-Reading and following job instructions, plans, and schedules.

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

-Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

-White Card is required and valid driver licence preferred.
