Formwork Carpenter

We are seeking a skilled Formwork Carpenter to join our team on a full-time basis in Canberra. The role involves constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork for concrete structures, interpreting construction drawings, setting out and aligning formwork to safety standards, using tools and materials efficiently, and ensuring all work complies with WHS requirements, building codes, and company procedures across various construction sites.

Task & responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of formwork carpentry, including but not limited to:

• Building, installing, and dismantling formwork for concrete structures such as foundations, walls, columns, beams, and slabs
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications
• Setting out, aligning, bracing, and levelling formwork to meet engineering and safety standards
• Cutting, shaping, and assembling timber, plywood, and other materials used in formwork systems
• Safely stripping formwork while maintaining the integrity of completed concrete structures
• Measuring and marking materials accurately using appropriate tools
• Installing temporary supports, structures, and safety barriers as required
• Operating hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently
• Maintaining, repairing, and storing formwork systems and timber components
• Complying with WHS requirements, building codes, and company policies and procedures

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Formwork Carpenter or in a similar construction role
• Certificate III in Carpentry or a related trade (preferred but not essential)
• Sound knowledge of timber, conventional, or modular formwork systems
• Ability to read and follow construction drawings and instructions
• Competency in the use of carpentry tools and construction equipment
• Valid White Card (mandatory)
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a safety-focused attitude
