Carpenter– Passive Fire Protection

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced and trade-qualified Carpenters to carry out construction and installation works associated with passive fire protection systems.

This role involves interpreting technical drawings, constructing and installing fire-rated structures, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, and maintaining high-quality workmanship across commercial and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities 

• Study drawings, specifications and building plans to determine materials required, dimensions and installation methods.
• Measure, mark and cut timber, fire-rated board, steel framing and composite materials to required specifications.
• Construct, install and repair structures and fittings including:
• Fire-rated walls and partitions
• Fire-rated ceilings and bulkheads
• Access panels and fire-rated doors
• Fire stopping systems and penetration sealing
• Install structural frameworks and cladding systems in accordance with fire engineering documentation and Australian Standards.
• Assemble prepared components and structures on-site.
• Ensure compliance with fire rating requirements, BCA regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers and other trades to integrate passive fire systems within construction projects.
• Inspect completed works to ensure quality control and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain safe work practices and adhere to company WHS policies.

Requirements

Minimum 1–3 years relevant experience

• Experience in commercial construction (passive fire experience highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of Australian building codes and fire compliance standards
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fire engineering reports
• High attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Strong commitment to safety
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• White Card (mandatory)
• Valid Australian working rights
